A poem dedicated to all Malaysians

When gentlemen fight
We fight with might
If we won the fight
We are humble with our might

Even if we lost the fight
We still regard it a good fight
No excuse for losing in fight
Because, we hold high our pride

Not like some, they are not in sight
Upon losing a fight
Excuses justifying lost in fight
Instead of admitting they have lesser might

Win or lose in a fight
No big deal if it is a fair fight
What matter is our pride
and whether you fight with might

Please learn from lost in fight
Improve on your might
Listen to rakyat’s plight
God willing, you win the next fight

I FOUND A JEWEL - BHANTE KOVIDA

I practise Bhante Kovida Qi Gong

Bhante comments on his book...
Some people will be surprised and puzzled while others, no doubt, will be shocked and upset with my explanation of certain topics such as khamma and rebirth, since many teachers explain these topics otherwise.

My thoughts on these subjects should not be viewed as concrete truths but rather as different ways of looking and reflecting on aspects of the Dhamma. We should, after all, keep an open and inquiring mind, and resist the easy temptation of clinging to views and opinions. We must always be alert to the persisting habit of the clinging/craving mind because it's really not important what we think and want to believe. What really matters, and what the Buddha kept reminding people, is that our minds and hearts are peaceful and free from suffering and dis-ease, ego pride, arrogance and conceit, and blessed with the four sublime states of loving kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity.

Another jewel that I found,

"When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. And that's my religion. - Abraham Lincoln"

TODAY, A SPECIAL DAY

Today is a very special day to me, not because today is Christmas day, but because a jewel that I found in internet finally found this blog, "Gary's Garden".

I believe, in doing whatever thing, sincerity is a must. Lacking of it makes the whole matter not meaningful at all.

Beware of man, not hungry ghosts!

I came across this article in Malaysiakini titled 'Beware of man, not hungry gohosts!' by Sim Kwang Yang. This article ended with a paragraph below, which I found it carries a lot of truth,

".......I remember what an old Iban man told me once. There is nothing to fear from ghosts. Human beings can do much more harm to their fellowmen than all the ghosts in hell. Watching the antiques of politicians engaged in plots and counter-plots in Malaysia, I will have to admit this little dictum has indeed more than a grain of truth!....."

Watch out for LIM GUAN ENG

Flying on economy class. Same flight with Ning Baizura. Someone commented "when Ghandi was asked the reason why he travelled on the 3rd class train...he answered, because there was no 4th class. Good Luck and LGE"

A REVOLUTION

The just concluded 12th General Election indeed a revolution for Malaysia. Lim Kit Siang and Nik Aziz liken it to a tsunami. Perhaps there is no other word best described the just concluded general election. To me, it is the beginning of a new era for Malaysia where we realised race-base politics is definitely not the way we should go for. We should not look at problem at 'race first, problem second' anymore. A problem is a problem irrespective of whether it is faced by Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan, Iban or 'lain-lain'.

The statements made by our leaders after the release of General Election results are indeed assuring and respectable in every senses.

PAS spiritual leader, Nik Aziz said :-

“I want to thank everybody, all the races that worked together with PAS to bring in this victory. I appreciate your support. We will approach this victory from an Islamic point of view and this means everyone is equal. All are brothers and sisters. There should be no more dividing people along racial lines,”

To be appointed Chief Minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng said :-

“It will be a government for all Malaysians. We stress that we will not rule alone but together with PKR. We also hope that the PAS can help this new government”.

PKR de-facto leader, Anwar Ibrahim said :-

“The people have voted decisively for a new era where the government must be truly inclusive and recognises that all Malaysians, regardless of race, culture or race are a nation of one,”

WILL MALAYSIAN VOTE ACCORDING TO SKIN COLORS?

Charles Santiago, DAP

Ch'ng Toh Eng, BN(MCA)

The coming 12th General Election will see a contest between DAP and BN (MCA) candidates in Klang, Selangor, with racial breakdown of Malay: 33.5%, Chinese: 47.1%, Indian: 18.6%, Others: 0.9%. The contest here will see how Malaysian in Klang will vote. Will they vote according to skin colors? DAP is a multi-racial base while MCA is a Chinese base. Anyway, for me......

NICE QUOTE

I found somewhere a very meaningful comments:-

Members of Barisan National parties must understand that it is not disloyal to vote in a stronger opposition to check abuses in the govt. Though one may love BN, one has to love the country, Malaysia more. As Brutus has said, ‘It is not that I love Ceasar less but I love Rome more’.

So likewise, we level-headed Malaysians must realise that we do not love our political party less but that we love our country more when we vote have a stronger opposition to keep a check on the government.

I came across a phrase which has same meaning in 'The Sound of Music', but I can't recall now......

BRADDEL MEMORIAL LECTURE IN 1982 - TUN SUFFIAN

I am impressed with the following paragraph quoted by Sultan Azlan Shah of Perak during his opening speech of the 14th Malaysia Law Conference :-

“ In a multi-racial and multi religious society like yours and mine, while we judges cannot help being Malay or Chinese or Indian; or being Muslim or Buddhist or Hindu or whatever, we strive not to be too identified with any particular race or religion – so that nobody reading our judgement with our name deleted could with confidence identity our race or religion, and so that the various communities, especially minority communities, are assured that we will not allow their rights to be trampled underfoot.”

WHEN INTEGRITY IS LOST, EVERYTHING IS LOST

As the saying goes..... when wealth is lost, nothing is lost, when health is lost, something is lost, but when INTEGRITY is lost, evetything is lost.

Nice saying, isn't it?

QUOTATIONS 引文

Below are quotations that I come across when browsing internet. I shall update these quotations in this blog from time to time. You can read them with ease by clicking on the link 'QUOTATIONS 引文' on your right. Lets start with :-

Who knows perhaps we will all make history…..ONLY IF WE DARE TO DREAM

我愛我的國家.有國才有家.有家才有我

A man has to do what a man has to do

Religion is one path towards personal peace and spiritual fulfilment. It is also something which depends entirely on faith. Even if the religion is a ‘way of life’, a term commonly used to describe xxxxx; it still needs belief and faith. How can one be forced to follow a ‘way of life’ if one simply does not believe in it? Once the element of force comes into the picture, be it in the form of fines, imprisonment or ‘rehabilitation’, then religion ceases to be about the spiritual and becomes instead a matter of power.

"Berani kerana benar"

i was born in Malaysia... sure i love this place, this country. But i don't need anyone else to TEACH ME HOW to love this country.

I am beginning to see a glimmer of hope at the end of what once seemed a hopeless tunnel.

It has indeed been a long and winding road, but alas, I can see that the Ray of Hope is bursting thru’ the clouds. Though I may be in my sixties, living each day as a bonus, but i know the future “children of Negara Ku” will be able to experience and love the “fruits of sacrifice” from all our sincere and truthful “Anak Malaysia”

A joke was just a joke. An opinion was just an opinion. A viewpoint was just a viewpoint. Differences were respected and accepted.

" You reap what you sow"

Jesus once said "do unto others what you want others do unto you"

I know Malaysia has its faults and bad feeling
It is the leaders whom we made them to the office
We can make a change in the box
It is our rights to initiate change

I am trying hard not to be a racist, because racism is simply wrong, once in grave, God only sees ones deeds, not race

I support causes, not personalities. If that personality carries a cause I can relate to then I rally behind him. If I do not like his cause or feel that he has abandoned the cause then I move on. Life is too short to bitch and whine. If we meet eye-to-eye, we talk. If not, we walk.......RPK of malaysia-today.net

I have been lucky to have always had a shoulder to lean on when needed. God bless all those who love me. The rest he may bless if he so desires!

If by definition a judiciary means an independent, incorruptible and neutral judiciary, then we don't have one" - former Lord President Salleh Abas in Malaysiakini.

CHICKEN SOUP FOR A TIRED SOUL

I came across a comment which I treasure, read it :-

“Don’t cling to things, because everything is impermanent”….a Buddhist saying.

It is alright to cling to negative emotions like fear, pain, failure, desperation, hopelessness, meaningless, worry and so forth. After you allow yourself to be fully penetrated by them, you got to detach from them and continue your journey. We don’t necessary taste the fruits from the good seeds we sowed in our mortal life span. If you hold back on your emotions…and don’t allow yourself to go all the way through them, you can never get to being detached. You become too busy being in all your emotions. After you have experienced and recognized all your emotions…tell yourself it is time to detach and carry on with the journey. There are more things and emotions awaiting you. ….hahaha learnt this entire talking cure from Morrie on the Tuesdays. Poem is chicken soup for a tired soul.

DO NOT BELIEVE IN ANYTHING SIMPLY.....

I found this posting by one named 'surfwarrior' who was commenting on http://www.malaysia-today.net/Blog-s/2006/07/from-bad-to-worse.htm , read on, I agreed with surfwarrior :-

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." - Buddha

surfwarrior, I hope you won't mind I copied your posting in mine.....thanks
