Have you seen before this type of bird nest before? This was the first time I have seen this. Just imagine the nest was only wrapped by a grape plant leaf in Gary's Garden. You can imagine how tiny the bird is, judging from the size of the bird nest posted.
I suspect the bird is the 'love birds' who seeked refuge in my balcony months ago. You can see more details in my October 2005 posting).
You can see how well the bird can build such nest and its workmanship is so refined. Is anyone out there knows its name?

MOTHER BIRD IN ACTION

Gary's Garden managed to capture mother bird in action this morning. This time, the nest was just there for this mother bird to lay eggs in it. She does not need to build a new one. Again, there are two eggs in it (Please refer January 2006 postings titled "BIRD IS HERE AGAIN TO LAY EGGS).
Well, the pictures show a mother's love is the greatest of all, irrespective of the living creature a human or an animal. The pictures show where a mother's love begins.........

CHINESE NEW YEAR .VALENTINE.TRAFFIC JAMS

The month of January and February 2006 was an eventful one. Chinese of the world was celebrating the most important festival of a Lunar calender. It marks the begining of a year. The celebration starts with a reunion dinner among family members in the eve of the first day of Chinese New Year.
Celebration of the festival becomes more hectic nowadays as the young ones need to go back to their parents' home and thereafter to the in-laws'. The distance involved easily totalled up at least 500km. This makes me think whether is it worth the trouble to travel up and down just to attend the reunion dinner and meet up with relatives and friends. Can't we think of other ways to celebrate the festival in a more relax and enjoyable mood? Just imagine the traffic congestion that occurred during the rush hours, it really spoils the mood of celebrating Chinese New Year.
The 2006 Chinese New Year ends with Valentine Day on the 14th February. Again, traffic jam in Kuala Lumpur somehow spoilt the mood again. Perhap the authorities should think in depth to solve the traffic congestion problem, especially in Kuala Lumpur.
Well, the consolation to all these bad mood were that I had the chance to see some rare wildlifes with my own eyes during travels and that my valentine really appreciates the roses that I offered.

BIRD IS HERE AGAIN TO LAY EGGS

Well, Gary's Garden is again chosen by bird to lay eggs. This time, the same type of bird again. Co-incidentally, two eggs were layed. Maybe this type of bird only lay two eggs each time. We welcome them with open arms. My kids cherish such occasion and like to climb up ladder to see what is happening at the nest. The mother bird will spend some time to hatch the eggs and it will not fly even my kids are up there looking at it. Maybe, the mother bird knows we are harmless to it.
Gary's Garden regard this as a valueable experience to our young children. They learn how a new life begins, the value of a life and how great is mother's love. I bet this experience will never be erased in their memory for the rest of their lifes.

WELCOME 2006

Today is the first day of the year 2006. Everyone of us is just like the bird in this picture, plan the direction that each of us should go. I believe not everyone has a definite direction yet at this first day of the year but at least we have a broad direction which way we should go. The direction may need to fine tune from time to time due to unforeseen circumstances as no plan is perfect.

Fraser's Hill - Flower & Bird

Fraser's Hill is an ideal place for plants and birds. It is indeed a 'Shangri-la' for nature lovers. Malaysian Nature Society organises jungle treking, birds watching, mountain climbing and other activities in promoting love to nature. During the trip there, we managed to snap some photos and would like to share with all of you.
Gary's Garden recommend you to visit http://www.naturestops.com . The shots are fanstatic. The name of the bird posted is Chestnut-Capped Laughingthrush

A Profession called Hunters

As a nature lover and god fearing person, Gary's Garden is of the opinion that, except when wild animals form part of the food chain of a native, there should not be a profession called HUNTER. The nature is the rightful place of abode for wild animals. We human should leave them in the jungle and should not hunt them for reasons such as profession, food or past-time. These animals have their own family, they may be a child, a father, a mother, a sister, a brother to someone, right? Every hunter should think again, if he or she is a wild animal and shot by a hunter, what will happen? Its family's members will be in sorrow, right? A recent case of tiger poaching in the state of Kelantan, Malaysia, was a disaster to mankind. It reflects the selfishness of a human being. Every single life is precious, irrespective of a human or an animal. If someone kills somebody, he or she will be charged for murder. But, if a hunter kills a tiger, will he be, by right, charged as a murderer also?
Posted here is a picture of a little bird born in Gary's Garden and came back to visit us, how nice!!! This was an achievement to us.

The family moved elsewhere 小鸟们搬走了

The bird family has decided to move elsewhere, perhaps the existing nest could not accommodate the growing babies. Gary's Garden will just leave the nest there and who knows, the birds may come back and lay eggs in it. We noticed the birds still visit our garden to pluck grapes. Gary's Garden is their second home, we guessed.
Besides that, we noticed another pair of birds, very small size, come to our garden very evening, stay through the night and will fly off about 7.00 am. We managed to snap a photo (without flash) of them and would like to post it today to share with all of you. We guessed the reason behind may be due to fragrance from our hoyas, which have full bloom now.

Great News - the babies can fly now 小鸟会飞了

Gary's Garden has a great news today, the babies can fly. We managed to snap photos of one of the little bird standing just beside its nest. It really looks so cute. Its mom and dad must be so proud of their babies. Their efforts are not wasted. Gary's Garden is observing how diligently both parents taking care of the babies. The mother bird flies back to its nest every evening to sleep with her babies. She uses her wings to cover the little ones. The photo posted today was not using flash as we worried it will scare the baby. Gary's Garden sincerely hopes the family will regard the garden as their HOME forever. We believe the rightful home for wild animals is nature and not in cages. (can u see the father bird holds food for its babies)

Inhabitants of Gary's Garden

Gary's Garden attracts living creatures and some decided to stay. Some of these living creatures may be harmful to plants in Gary's Garden, but we will not destroy them as we believe every living creature has a decent place to stay which we called it 'HOME'. Gary's Garden propagates loves to nature.

The Love Birds
Introduce to you the mother and father of the babies. At first, I was puzzled why there was two birds with food in their beads take turns flying in and out of the nest instead of the mother bird only. Finally, I realised that the father bird also done his part in bringing food to the babies. This reflects to us that love exist in this world, we should preserve such love. I can't imagine why we human some time chose not to live in peace but go for war, commit crime and participate in terrorism. Your opions on this are most welcome.

Babies in action

Babies in action, this remind me of the korean TV series, Jewel in the Palace 大长今) where the little girl parents have to gone through all difficulties to ensure safety of their child. Today, 1st of the ninth month of lunar calender (九月初一) which co-incide with the Festival of the Nine Emperors God (九皇爷诞辰), is my father's birthday. I wish him good health and life (寿比南山,富如东海).THOSE WHO WANT TO SEND BIRTHDAY GREETINGS TO MY DADDY, PLEASE DO SO.

Celebration of the birth of birds in Gary's Garden 庆祝小乌诞生

Gary's Garden is excited to experience the birth of two baby birds in the garden. We feel honoured to be chosen as the place for the births. We have gone through this since the early stage of making nest by the mother and father birds, then hatching of eggs, birth of the young ones and feeding by both their mother and father. This proves that parental loves to our children has no boundary, even animals know that. 父母的爱真是伟大,动物都懂这个道理,为什么我们人类不能呢?
