One of the premises in Jonker St that impressed me was the The Clay House. If you want to find designer's collection of clay works, this is the place that you should go. As promised to Mr. Leong of The Clay House, I posted here a few of his works.

JONKER ST, MELAKA

It was an eye opener for me. On 19-20 August 2006, Gary's Garden visited Melaka, a state in Malaysia which is rich with its historical heritage. Melaka was under the rule of Melaka Sultanate, Portugese, Dutch and English before and you can find traces of these rules in Melaka, particularly, the Jonker Streets. A visit to Melaka is not complete without visiting Jonker St. Previously, I was just driving through the streets, but this time, I decided to have a walk with my family. The walk is definitely an eye opener to us and Gary's Garden decided to share with you photos shot during our visit in the next few postings. So, keep your fingers crossed.

Gary's Garden met a few personnels in Jonker St and has promised them to post their products in Gary's Garden. So, friends, keep visiting Gary's Garden to view your products, ya ?

By the way, I was told several movies had been shot at Jonker St.

Doulos-Bringing Knowledge, Help and Hope

Yesterday, i.e. Sunday 3o July 2006, I and family visited a ship "DOULOS" that brings Knowledge, Help and Hope, docked at Star Cruise Terminal of Port Klang, Malaysia. This was my second visit to this ship, the first visit was about 5 years ago. My kids like the ship simply because it carries lots of books. For me, I like it because the ship carries a mission, a mission which is simple and yet meaningful to mankind. How nice if I will be part of it in future.

QUE SERA, SERA (WHATEVER WILL BE, WILL BE)

Familiar with this Que Sera, Sera? I am sure all of us do, right? I have been searching for the lyrics of this song for quite sometime, reason being I was not sure of its title. Finally I found it through google search. I heard this song since I was young and I can remember the rythm of the song but not the full lyrics. The song attracted me simply because it is meaningful to me in the sense that it implies our future / life is full of uncertainties. That is very true, right? Even a fortune teller cannot be sure, yah?

So, the important thing is that we should value our life and live with a purpose. We should be of value in our lifetime and be value added to mankind. I would share with you my piano playing of this song once I master the technology of putting up a music file in my blog. At the meantime, just let me share with you the lyrics :-

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what would I be
Will I be pretty, will I be rich
Here's what she said to me.

chorus :-
Que Sera, Sera
Whatever will be, will be
Our future not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

When I was young, I fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows, day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said

Now I have children of my own
They asked their mother, what will I be
Will I be handsome, will I be rich
I tell them tenderly.

QINGHAI-TIBET RAILWAY

I read with interest about the newly completed QINGHAI-TIBET railway. It definitely is a great architecture and Gary's Garden will surely try it one day. The emergence of China is sort of miracle in this 21st century. It is a country that should be visited during our lifetime.

    MY SON'S DRAWING

After looking at the drawing of my friend's son, my son also want me to publish his on the blog. Well, what can I say but willingly publish his. Well, it is not a matter of whose drawing is better but more importantly is to let our off springs to have the chance to 'show-off' their creation. They need to grow up in a healthy environment so that they can be a better person in future.

    THEY ARE OUR FUTURE.

    SPECIAL - COIN PLANT FRUIT

We would like to share with you a special type of fruit from Gary's Garden. We called it coin plant fruit as its leaves look like coins spiraling upward. This plant is well-liked by Chinese as it signifies 'good fortunes'. The plant seldom bear fruit, at most it flowers. Its flower is white in colour and emits nice smell. We are overjoyed that it bears fruit this time.

    哥妹两 & Naruto

These two drawings were drawn by a friend's son. He was so proud to show his son's drawing to me yesterday and I had his permission to publish the drawings here. Gary's Garden salute this little boy who is only 10 year-old and according to his proud father, the boy has won honours from Cambridge for his creativity.

I shown the drawings to my kids and they recognised the characters in the drawings, ie 哥妹两 (big brother & sister) & Naruto.

    WESAK & MOTHERS' DAYS

Last Friday was Wesak Day and today is Mothers' Day. Gary's Garden was having an outing to Tanjung Harapan, North Port Klang to celebrate Mothers' Day on Wesak Day, ie 12 May, 2006. Well, a lot of people heard of Tanjung Harapan but do not know the way there. Here we post a road map for your convenience.

To us, Mothers' Day is as great as Wesak Day, that is to say all mothers are as great as Buddha. They are all about love, however simple they maybe. Their love is as pure as the water hycinth posted here.

To all children of the world, welcome you to put a word of praise to our mother here.

    HOME IS STILL THE BEST

HOME IS STILL THE BEST......this is what I usually tell my children and they agreed with me full heartedly...... he he. I told them that one's house may be bigger or smaller, made of straw, wooden or brick, but so long is one's HOME, is still the BEST. In many outings, they miss their home, as to us, HOME IS STILL THE BEST.

This replica of water mill is built jointly by my children with my guidance. Somehow they learned how a house being constructed and I believe they cherised the moment forever.

    ORCHIDS FROM A TEMPERATE COUNTRY

All these while I thought orchids are tropical plants until someone from a temperate country uploaded these two pictures of orchid to me. I gave them the 'benefit of doubts' and believe he /she that these orchids are infact grown 'physically' in a cold country. So, it is up to you to believe, or if you want, prove them wrong, OK?

By the way, friends, I am still confused whose these orchids belong. Who cares? Just enjoy the beauty of these orchids.

    HAVE U SEEN B4 ? curious....please click here

I bet you have not seen this before........你见过这种鸟窝吗?

Have you seen before this type of bird nest before? This was the first time I have seen this. Just imagine the nest was only wrapped by a grape plant leaf in Gary's Garden. You can imagine how tiny the bird is, judging from the size of the bird nest posted.

I suspect the bird is the 'love birds' who seeked refuge in my balcony months ago. You can see more details in my October 2005 posting).

You can see how well the bird can build such nest and its workmanship is so refined. Is anyone out there knows its name?
